Our calculator estimates roofing material needs based on your roof's footprint dimensions, pitch (slope angle), and roof type. Different roof types require different multipliers — a hip roof, for example, has four sloped sides instead of two, requiring roughly 7-8% more material than an equivalent gable roof.
